Personal care services refer to chores that are done to help a patient with activities of daily living, such as helping with eating, using the restroom, bathing, clothing, grooming, transferring, walking, exercising, or other personal hygiene-related duties. These services fall under the category of healthcare services because they have to be done by only certified caregivers.

Housekeeping, meal preparation, shopping, washing, cleaning, and transportation services are not considered to be “personal care services” because they can be done by people who are not certified.
